Dear Friends & Family,

I'd like to invite you to join me at the Lander Bake Shop on Thursday, December 6th at 6pm MST for a free screening of Miho Aida's film "The Sacred Place Where Life Begins: Gwich'in Women Speak" and Patagonia's film "The Refuge".

The Gwich’in Steering Committee is calling for individuals in the Lower 48 to take action and stand in solidarity on December 6th, the 58th anniversary of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, to help protect this sacred land. You can help by hosting a screening of The Sacred Place Where Life Begins | Gwich'in Women Speak a film by Miho Aida, winner of the 2018 NOLS Alumni Achievement Award. In this film she shares the stories of arctic native Gwich'in women from all walks of life who speak out to protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil development. They remind us this is not only an environmental issue but also an Indigenous and human rights issue for the nation.

Find more information on the film and on the petition and social media messaging to help protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge here: bit.ly/DefendtheRefuge
Please share your experiences online on Thursday, December 6th to amplify the voice of the Gwich’in.
You can use the hashtags - #ArcticAnniversary #StandwiththeGwichin#ProtecttheArctic.

You can find the Facebook event link here. Please share with your friends!

Thank you so much!
Wishing you all a most extraordinary weekend,
Justin Forrest Parks
