Hello lander,

Well, it has been 2 years. Happy birthday to us!

The month of April marks our anniversary, and I must say that I am amazed
how far we have come in two years. As you may recall, in the beginning I
started this training group (dojo) after retiring from serious training for
several years due to various injuries. When I moved to Lander, I was in bad
physical condition and was in need of serious recuperation. I began walking
on my lunch breaks, which made me feel better. As I felt better, I started
to eat better, and as I ate better I started to feel better, and exercised
more. With more exercise I felt better still, which led to even more more
positive lifestyle changes, and so on and so forth. Now here I am 2 1/2
years later teaching at my own small martial arts school, and am in better
shape than I have been in close to 10 years. (As a side note. I highly
recommend the book *"The Culprit and the Cure*")

My physical recovery aside, the progress we have made in our training at the
dojo has been remarkable as well. Not only has the quality of my
instruction improved as I have "knocked the rust off", but the skill level
of everybody in the group has improved dramatically since the beginning.
Ours is not a school in the typical sense that I am an instructor and
everybody is my student. Rather we all learn from each other. I am always
perfecting what I've already learned, but that is the nature of good martial
arts training. All of us are better this month than we were last month, but
not nearly as good as we will be. All we have to do is keep going.

And keep going we will. My plans for this next year are substantial we will
see how much we have time to actually do, but the good news is we have years
to get to it. With substantial plans come substantial costs. We will have
equipment costs much greater than we have in the past, and with the increase
of the quality of training, I think it is reasonable that we raise our
rates. If we all pitch in together we can build something great.

Here is what we are working on this month: We're continuing to grind on the
8 basic techniques of the art. They are very simplistic, but it does take
time to truly burn them into our reflexes. In order to keep things
interesting I have acquired a few chairs so we can learn to do the
techniques while seated and standing in the presence of the chair. No, this
is not going to be World Wrestling Federation material.

Sincerely,

Hannes Stueckler
